Parrots, canaries, and other birds looking for a home
Birds end up in free Saarland listings for the same reasons dogs and cats do — a move, an allergy that shows up later than expected, or an owner who underestimated how loud and long-lived a parrot actually is. A budgie or canary adjusts to a new home fairly quickly, while larger parrots can live for decades and form a strong bond with one person, which makes rehoming harder on the bird emotionally.
Before taking on a bird, ask whether it's hand-tame or has mostly lived without human contact — the two require completely different approaches in the first few weeks, and forcing interaction too soon can set back trust for months.
Cage and feeder don't always come with the bird, so confirm that detail before pickup rather than scrambling to buy everything on move-in day.
